★★★★★ I have worked at Nautilus Plus for several years and trained in most of the gyms on the south shore and downtown. Cour du Roi is, in my opinion, the nicest gym in downtown Montreal. It is way less crowded than Montreal Trust or Place Ville Marie, and has big windows.
As for Robert or Denny's reviews, I am not sure if this is your first year with Nautilus, but the schedule always change after la St-Jean, because less people come by on weekends during summertime. It is announce way ahead of time and if you happen not to have seen the hours, you can always google them before your workout.
I am personally in the "group of loud bodybuilders" who have been training every Saturday night for months. We are loud yes, but without exaggeration. I am sorry but it is a gym, not a library, and with proper headphones, you will barely hear us. As for being "intimadating", yes we lift heavy, yes we are a lot, but if you actually bothered to talk to us you could've seen how nice and respectful we are. We are passionate about what we do, always eager to help others and answer questions. You should not be "disappointed" that we are employees, quite the contrary. How often have you been to gyms where the trainers actually workout? How often have you seen trainers in shape, sharing their passion with an ever-growing group of passionate clients? Saturday-night-lifts as we call it, are a tradition. Next time, before calling us intimidating, come and talk to us. We will welcome you with open arms.
As for the front desk staff being harassing, please understand that when we close at 5pm. You have to be out the door at 5pm. That means changed and everything. It is more than normal for a staff to come up to you 5, 3 minutes before the closing time to ask you to go change. You should not be doing your last set at 5pm. Next time maybe try arriving earlier, as it is always been that way.
I will keep on training 6 times a week at Cour du Roi, because I love being around passionate people.
